HARM REDUCTION PROGRAM
Redefining your Relationship with Substances
Our clinically grounded Harm Reduction Psychotherapy Program is for adults ready to make meaningful changes in their substance use. This includes reducing risk, gaining more control, or exploring what a healthier relationship with substances can look like.
Our program is intended to meet you where you are but never leave you there with its intentional structure, designed for those who may not be seeking abstinence but are motivated to improve their lives.
You do not need to be in crisis to seek help. You only need to be ready to take an honest look at what is working, what is not, and what direction you want to move in. We meet you where you are, but we do not leave you there. Our goal is to provide structure, insight, and the tools that make lasting change possible.
Harm Reduction Psychotherapy
Harm Reduction Psychotherapy is an evidence-based approach that minimizes the negative consequences of substance use without requiring immediate abstinence. At Insight, it means:
- Respecting that recovery exists on a spectrum
- Offering moderation and safer use strategies alongside abstinence-based goals
- Recognizing that rigid models fail real people
- Providing treatment that is clinically flexible and intentionally structured
Our program focuses on increasing awareness, developing personalized goals, and implementing tools to reduce harm in day-to-day life. Clients learn to track patterns, manage urges, improve emotional regulation, and make decisions that align with their values and health. If substance use is creating friction personally, professionally, or relationally, this program offers a structured space to understand and address it. Through our program, clients learn to:
- Track patterns of use
- Manage urges and triggers
- Improve emotional regulation
- Make decisions aligned with their health, values, and goals
What to Expect
Harm Reduction Psychotherapy increases awareness, helps clients develop personalized goals, and equips them with tools to reduce harm in their day-to-day lives. Our program includes:
- Weekly clinician-led group sessions focused on behavioral change
- Individual check-ins to refine goals and provide accountability
- Education about substances, decision-making, and mental health
- Development of an Ideal Use Plan—a framework created with your clinician that sets safer boundaries, identifies risk points, and evolves as your needs change
- Practical skills for stress management, impulsivity, and high-risk situations
Beyond Behavior Change
Our work does not stop at surface patterns. We address the mental health conditions that often drive substance use, including anxiety, trauma, depression, and emotional dysregulation. These underlying issues are treated directly alongside substance use to create meaningful, sustainable progress.
The Ideal Use Plan is central to this process. Instead of imposing rigid rules, it gives clients the structure to set realistic limits, monitor progress, and adjust when needed. Plans are reviewed regularly, so growth is measurable and accountability remains clear.
By combining clinical expertise, flexibility, and real-time collaboration, we help clients build insight, strengthen coping strategies, and develop the confidence to sustain change.
